I have always been attracted to the challenge of Realism in my artwork. With a desire to learn new technical approaches, I find the process effects of oils along with the many different outcomes one can achieve with the medium quite fascinating. Currently, I am focused on the use of color within the still life genre. I have recently decided to revisit a studied approach in practice and application to further my visual language skill set in a more focused manner. My main goal is to bridge traditional glazing effects with the expressive nature and color use found in direct painting. My subject matter varies and is really more about the use of color and light, where the actual objects serve more as a way of exploring these various outcomes. Fruits and glass tend to serve well for this. In the past, I have explored more directly themed applications including the industrial landscape, technology and culture (ongoing interest), and the portrait narrative.
